Sarah Oldaker Knochel is the Founder and Principal Designer of BIRD Interiors, where she personally heads up each project. Guided by the belief that every home holds the potential to be both beautiful and deeply personal, Sarah designs spaces that reflect her clients’ personality while elevating the rhythm of everyday living.
An Atlanta native, Sarah studied Interior Design at the University of Georgia. She refined her craft working with respected firms on both east and west coasts, including Pineapple House Interior Design, Amy Morris Interiors, Harrison Design, and Margaret Ash Design. These experiences shaped her understanding of architectural integrity, layered storytelling, and thoughtful materiality.
Sarah’s aesthetic is refined and warm with a tailored edge, balanced by an elevated style that brings personality and intrigue to each project. She approaches design as both art and function, ensuring spaces feel polished yet entirely livable.
Now back in Atlanta after time on the West Coast, Sarah resides in the city’s Sandy Springs neighborhood with her husband, baby girl, and kitty. Outside the studio, you'll find her traveling, gardening, or tasting her way through Atlanta's food scene with family & friends.
As a Junior Designer at BIRD Interior Design, she brings creativity, thoughtfulness, and a strong attention to detail to every project. Emily is passionate about transforming homes into spaces that feel both beautiful and deeply personal, with designs that reflect each client’s lifestyle.
Emily studied Interior Design and graduated from the University of Georgia. Rooted in a small town, she developed a strong appreciation for community, hospitality, and spaces that naturally bring people together.
Outside the studio, Emily enjoys hosting dinner parties, taking walks at Chastain Park, and finding any opportunity to enjoy live music.
Morgan Andrews supports the BIRD team as the Office & Retail Manager. Morgan has spent the last 13 years in the creative and live event industries and has a unique understanding of how small businesses run by creative minds can operate to their fullest potential.
With equal parts imagination and organization, she excels at supporting creative professionals with clarity while ensuring the business engine runs smoothly behind the scenes. Morgan gained a deep respect for the creative process while working with artists all over the globe and applies that experience to the Interior Design industry.
Outside the studio, you can find Morgan crafting, attending art events, and hanging out with her 3 small kids.
